The Dogfather – National Hot Dog Month 2013 Day 1

The Dogfather

The Dogfather Extreme Hot Dog Truck in Worcester, MA has been featured on the National Hot Dog Month Tour every year, and 2013 is no exception. While this year’s tour is “all new,” Dogfather owner Mark Gallant picked up a NEW Hot Dog Truck this year, so he qualifies!

The Dogfather has two Trucks

The Dogfather is a Hot Dog Stories success story. Mark has worked very hard to build his brand and the folks in Worcester like his “extreme hot dogs.” With hot dogs named “The Vito,”  “The Don Corleone,” and “The Whitey,” he keeps his patrons coming back for more. He still sells in his regular location on Holden Street, and now he has his truck at the Worcester Common Oval on a regular basis and he’ll be appearing at the  Canal District Farmers Market in Worcester too. The kitchen area is more spacious and has all new equipment, he really did it up right. The new truck is much better on gas, so he can travel for more catering gigs.

The nice folks at Slawsa sent along some food service-sized jars of the least boring condiment on the planet for me to sample, so I brought one out to Mark. I had him make a variation of one of his extreme dogs: Dogzilla. Dogzilla is two hot dogs with chili, cheese, onions, and Andy Cap Fries wrapped in a burrito and grilled. I had Mark add some Slawsa to the Dogzilla, and it became “Slawsilla!” It was SLAWESOME.

Mark won’t be the last familiar face this month, there are may more Hot Dog Stories waiting to be told. Each venue will be “new” in some way, however. Enjoy the video!

I shoot Hot Dog Stories with a Kodak Zi8 and an Audio Technica ATR288W VHF Battery-Powered TwinMic Microphone System, a Flip Ultra HD camera, and a 60″tripod. I edit with Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 Ultimate. I also take some stills with my new Canon EOS Rebel Camera.
