Rudy Ruettiger Answers THE QUESTION

Daniel Rudy Ruettiger, the plucky, never-say-die young man who followed his dream of playing football at Notre Dame despite overwhelming odds was the Keynote Speaker at Affiliate Summit West 2013 in Las Vegas. He shared his stories of how he accomplished that goal and many others in a life defined by character, courage, contribution, and commitment.

The overall message Rudy Ruettiger delivered is one that is not lost on the group of online entrepreneurs who assembled to hear him speak: “Never give up on your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do it!”

I am a HUGE fan of the movie Rudy, which is based on Ruettiger’s story. Ruettiger was the first of only two players in Notre Dame history ever being carried off the field by his teammates. The other is Marc Edwards. Rudy is one of a handful of movies that never fails to get me choked up. It is one of the most inspiring movies I have ever seen!

Rudy Ruettiger Gets His Story Told

Rudy pitched his movie to Hollywood over a period of ten years! Many told him “no,” but just like with his dream of playing football, he never gave up. He finally inked the deal by going to Angelo Pizzo’s house after the writer stood him up for a meeting about the film. Rudy Ruettiger never quits!

The funniest moment of the speech came when Rudy talked about his parents. He once asked his mother her secret to a successful and happy marriage. She replied, “your father and I agreed never to fight in front of the children. We’d go to our bedroom to fight. Why do you think there’s fourteen of you?”

Rudy ended his speech by playing the final five minutes of the film. That’s the scene that always gets me. As I wiped away my tears, I caught up with Rudy and asked him THE QUESTION: “Do you put ketchup on your hot dogs?”

Check the video to find out what Rudy Ruettiger had to say about THAT!

I would like to personally invite you to try our famous Italian style hotdogs. They are 2 8-1 skinless Best Provision franks fried in soy oil then placed into a pocket of pizza bread (a sort of fat pita) then topped with fresh sautéed onions and peppers and then topped off with a lb. of fresh deep fried potatoes. Mustard is a must. Ketchup on the potatoes only on request.

Rob, you will get to sample the Italian Hot Dog from Jimmy Buffs and compare it to what you had at Tommy’s when you join us again on the next New Jersey Hot Dog Tour.

Thanks John I appreciate you talking on behalf of Jimmy Buff’s but I would like the real Hot dog Man to try our version in West Orange as well as Mike’s in Kenilworth and not have to wait until September’s HD tour.

Of course. Just wanted the real hot dog man to know that he doesn’t have to make a separate trip from New England to sample Jimmy Buff’s. But if he wants to make a trip down and not have to wait until the Tour, then great. There are lots of places I can recommend in addition to Jimmy Buff’s. Im glad to see that you switched from the smaller 10/1 dogs to 8/1.

[…] Ruettiger spoke and played the last five minutes of the movie. I was able to ask him THE QUESTION too! I also chatted with Julie Aigner-Clark after she told the crowd how she took Baby Einstein […]
