Moore Dogs – National Hot Dog Month Day 30

moore dogsMoore Dogs is a Hot Dog Truck located at the junction of routes 44 and 58, right across from Shaw’s Supermarket in Carver, MA (pronounced “Cahvah”). Owner Bob Moore has been in the hot dog business since 1983 and in the same location since 1986. Bob was off today, but Sara, a Carver native (and owner of one of the wickedest Boston accents I’ve evah encountered), was a wonderful hostess! She gave me the full “tour” and history of the place.

Moore Dogs has Home-made Chili

Sara told me the chili dog is the house specialty and Bob makes the stuff by the “bucketful.” The beanless chili is kind of a cross between a coney island and a marinara sauce; it’s sweet with a little back-end kick.

They open at 5 AM and have a full breakfast menu, which is available all day long. You can even get a hot dog at 5 AM if you want. Moore Dogs must be doing something right if he’s been around since 1983, and after checking out the interior, I can tell he’s serious about his business – the truck is spotless.

I addition to hot dogs, Moore Dogs serves burgers, sausages, chicken sandwiches, fries, onion rings, the aforementioned breakfast, and more. Patrons can phone in their order or give a call on the CB radio and pick their food up at the drive through window. You can follow Moore Dogs on their Facebook Page, or just stop in when you’re in the area. Make sure you tell Sara or Bob “the Hotdogman sent me.”

Enjoy today’s video!

I shoot Hot Dog Stories with a Kodak Zi8 camera with an Audio Technica ATR288W VHF Battery-Powered TwinMic Microphone System, a Flip Ultra HD camera, and a 60″tripod. I edit with Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 Ultimate. I will also take some stills with my new Canon EOS Rebel Camera.
