Mad Dogs Hot Dogs in Venice, Florida

On our recent trip to Venice, Florida, Little Miss, Mrs. Hotdogman and I visited Mad Dogs Hot Dogs at 2059 South Tamiami Trail.

It’s a cute little stand, converted from an old coffee drive up kiosk. They’re open
11:00 am to 8pm M – F, Sat. 11:00 am to 6pm and Sun. 11:00 am to 4pm.

The thing that makes Mad Dogs special is their authentic regional style dogs. You can get a Chicago Dog, a Jersey Ripper, a Michigan Dog and the list goes on and on. Husband and wife owners Mitch and Maria wanted to bring a taste of home to the many Florida “immigrants” from other parts of the country. They are catering to Hot Dog Nation.
We hung out for a while and shot some video. Of course, we got some hot dogs too!
Little Miss got her standard plain dog…
Mrs. Hotdogman got “The Yucatan” which has guacamole, shredded cheddar, tomatoes, and onions…
I got a genuine Vienna Beef Chicago Dog…
…and a “Jersey Ripper,” which is made with the real Thumann’s  franks. A Jersey Ripper is a deep fried hot dog that rips open when cooked and has a nice crunchy exterior. I had my ripper All Around.

Time to
CHOW DOWN!
Little Miss liked the Tube Dude who stopped by for lunch
For their quality dogs, authentic regional flavors, friendly service, and passion, Mad Dogs Hot Dogs gets
Two Thumbs Up!
If you are in Venice and want a taste of home (or a taste of some different styles of hot dogs), check out Mad Dogs Hot Dogs- it’s a real treat! Make sure you tell Mitch and Maria “the Hotdogman sent me!”
Check out the video!
