Boomer’s Dogs in Westborough, MA

Boomer Dogs

National Hot Dog Month Tour stop number 6 was at Boomer’s Dogs in Westborough, MA. Boomer’s Dogs is a little trailer parked at 45 East Main Street (route 30) in a small strip mall parking lot. Owner Dave Brown, a retired IT professional, just started slinging dogs a week ago!

I popped in around 10:30 in the morning to beat the lunch rush. Dave gave me the nickel tour and we talked about music, hot dogs, and the hot dog business. Dave claims he would eat hot dogs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if he could. It’s this love for the all American encased meat that brought him from the corporate world to the spiffy little trailer.

In the “it’s a small world” category, this trailer is the trailer that used to be the home of Hottie Dogs, a now defunct operation that made big news in these parts a few years ago. Hottie Dogs also happens to be the previous tenant of the location Larry Joe’s New England Fire Pit now occupies. Knowing this history, Dave couldn’t bear to remove the last memory of Hottie Dogs from the trailer’s exterior.

Hottie Dog on Boomer's trailer

Dave really doesn’t know what to expect from his location as he’s only been at it a week, but he remembers a hot dog cart in the spot for many years that did quite well. He’s got help with his marketing, too. Today his nephew was waving the Hot Dog Flag out front to entice customers.

I decided to order up and got Boomer’s signature chili cheese dog (with Mrs. HDM approved real cheese). I loaded on some chopped onions, Onion Crunch, and brown mustard and proceeded to chow down.

Dave has a good thing going; he’s grilling his buns with melted butter which is like a little piece of heaven on earth. I wish him the best with his new venture and hope to visit again!
