Zippity Do Dog in Framingham, MA was stop number two on the National Hot Dog Month Tour 2012. I have been here before, but the little trolley style trailer is under new ownership. Framingham native Brian Garry recently purchased the trailer after taking an early retirement package from TJX Corp. He worked there in IT for 40 years! TJX happens to abut the property Zippity Do Dog is located on, so Brian is one of those vendors who liked the business from the other side of the counter for a number of years.
He plans on keeping all the recipes that made Zippity Do Dog a local favorite. I am glad about that. Zippity Do Dog has great Coney sauce and is the only place in town I can grab a Coney Dog. They serve several brands of franks, including Pearl All Beef Franks. I opted for the 1/4 pound Pearl with Coney sauce, onions, Onion Crunch, and mustard.
The trailer is located near the intersection of Speen Street and route 30 in Framingham- just off exit 13 on The Mass Pike. There are a bunch of office buildings in the area and lots of vehicle traffic. On nice days (like today), the place is hopping. They also serve burgers and sausages. Brian is using the same recipes and the same attention to quality the former owner used. This aint no fast food crud, it’s good food fast.
I chatted up a few customers and Brian gave me the low down on his plans for the future. Once he gets assimilated to the hot dog business, he’s going to add his own personal touch to the spiffy little trailer.
I wish him the best in his new venture and look forward to chowing down at Zippity Do Dog for many years to come.
