Another July is upon us and that means it’s National Hot Dog Month 2014! Hot Dog Stories fans may be disappointed to learn I won’t be conducting my annual “tour” where I eat a hot dog a day at a different joint. I have exhausted many places near my home and just can’t balance family life and the Hot Dog Tour this year. My wife took a big chunk of July off from her coaching job and I intend to spend that time with her and the family.
Plans for National Hot Dog Month 2014
We’ll still visit some places and have a few surprises during National Hot Dog Month 2014, there just won’t be daily videos. Instead, we’re planning an exodus of sorts in August. We’re travelling to Chicago!
Vienna Beef has invited me to tour their facility and attend Hot Dog University where I will earn my “Hot Dogterate” Degree. I’ll also tour some iconic Chicago hot dog joints and tour the city, asking Chicagoans “THE QUESTION.”
I figure getting to some new places in a city that’s made hot dog history would be an appropriate substitute for my annual tour. The family is looking forward to checking out the city and sampling some “real” Chicago Hot Dogs! We plan on making the most of our time there and shooting some great videos.
