Frankies Famous – National Hot Dog Month Day 5

frankies famous cart

Frankies Famous is a little hot dog cart run by Frank Passafiume in downtown Haverhill, MA. I learned about Frankies Famous from one of Mrs. HDM’s colleagues. He told me he stopped for a dog and got to chatting; Frankie told him he was a fan – so I went for a dog and I brought my camera.

Frankies Famous Cart

Frankie got started as an ice cream man. He has an ice cream truck, but he found the maintainance, gas, and other expenses were too much, so he “downsized” to a hot dog cart three years ago and has had great success. He still takes the ice cream truck out on occaision, but the hot dog cart is the main business.

Frankies Famous is smack dab in the middle of downtown Haverhill, assuring lots of foot and vehicular traffic. Frankie serves up a dirty water style, Old Neighborhood frank. It’s a classic hot dog cart serving up a classic hot dog. As with most carts, condiment choices are limiited. Frankie tops his dogs with mustard, relish, onions, kraut, chili, and the red stuff (for the kids).

While the downtown location is his main spot, Frankie also travels to area events and does a little catering. He’s out from April to October – weather permitting. His wife and sister-in=law help out on occaision, but Frankie is the main slinger in the business. His friendly demeanor, good dogs, and great location should assure his success now and into the future!

You can find out more about Frankie’s Famous on his Facebook Page.

I shoot Hot Dog Stories with a Kodak Zi8 camera with an Audio Technica ATR288W VHF Battery-Powered TwinMic Microphone System, a Flip Ultra HD camera, and a 60″tripod. I edit with Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 Ultimate. I will also take some stills with my new Canon EOS Rebel Camera.

About hotdogman

I enjoy traveling and eating hot dogs wherever I am. I like to sample the local variations of America's favorite encased meat and discovering the stories behind the hot dog, the vendor, and the regional preferences. I also write about How to Start a Hot Dog Business, The Hot Dog Truck, The Shark Tank, and I have a personal blog, RobMerlinodotCom
