C & R Hot Dogs Redux

On a dreary May day, I decided to visit an “indoor” hot dog stand: C & R Hot Dogs located at
459B Washington Street in Holliston, MA.
Their hours are
Tuesday – Saturday: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Co-owner Carl Damigella was in a jovial mood. His partner Rich Maccagnano had the day off. The two old friends started C & R Hot Dogs a little over a year ago.
Both Carl and Rich will tell you the “real boss” is Theresa Lamkin- she gave them their start, after all.
C & R is loaded with lots of retro decor.
They have tee shirts all over the walls and hanging from the rafters. Businesses and school groups bring them in to be displayed. Carl says it’s a more fun way of the old “hang your business card on the wall” deal you see in lots of restaurants.
I got into the act and brought a Punch Buggy Game tee shirt.
It’s strictly a hot dog joint, but they have other items like soups, chicken salad and baked potatoes.
The standing lunch special is 2 hot dogs with ANYTHING on them, a soda and a bag of chips for only $5.00
WHAT A DEAL!

You can get a cool dog ice cream for dessert.

If you eat all 20 varieties, they’ll issue you official C & R Dog Tags.
There’s an ongoing hot dog eating contest. Eat as many dogs as you can in 8 minutes, and if you break the record, they’re on the (dog) house. The current record is 10.
Here’s “The Works.” There are over 30 toppings on this hot dog (yes there is a hot dog under all that somewhere) and this dog is still only two bucks. Carl calls it the “Non Profit Dog.”
The Holliston Reporter was in the house today too.
